05/30/2017- VICTOR HEALTH CLINIC BOMB THREAT

This morning, Teton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a bomb threat at the Victor Health Clinic located in Victor, Idaho. Staff members at the clinic received the threat this morning and began evacuating the building.

 

The Sheriff’s Office and Teton County Fire and Rescue are currently on scene and working in conjunction with the Idaho Falls Bomb Squad. Units onscene have cleared the building and have determined the bomb threat is unfounded. The Sheriff’s office is now investigating the source of the threat.

 

Traffic was initially diverted from Highway 33 onto surrounding roads, but at this time all roads are open. Buildings in the surrounding area were evacuated as a precaution. At this time the Sheriff’s Office is allowing persons evacuated to return to those homes and businesses.

 

Teton School District 401

On Monday, May 15th the board met to start working on a path forward for our school bond. We had presentations on different construction options, staff projections, maintenance needs of current schools, and transportation.  We created a pro/con list for each of the different construction options. At the end of the meeting we decided that new community schools for Driggs and Victor was the best fit for our community.

Our next bond meeting is Monday June 19th. We are going to decide:

·  Grade level Configuration

·  Possible update options for Tetonia, RUES, middle, and high school

·  Location for Basin

·  What percentage of growth do we aim to project

                   Impact on taxes 

 

Now Hiring - Seasonal Public Works Position

Seasonal Public Works Position - The City of Victor seeks a fun, self-starting, professional team player to join our Public Works Department for the spring and summer season.  Responsibilities for this position include the maintenance and upkeep of all City parks, pathways, streets, water, sewer, irrigation, equipment, and facilities and may require emergency on call services.  The job will include some operation of heavy equipment.  Compensation for this position will depend on experience.

Victor Placemakers Group Formed

The Victor Placemakers group formed in November 2016 to help make Victor’s Main Street a more vibrant and attractive place for visitors and residents to gather, shop and spend time, as well as a safer, more efficient transportation corridor. The group is made up of representatives of the Victor City Council, Victor city government, Victor Urban Renewal Agency and community volunteers who attended a three-day Community Mobility Institute training in Idaho Falls put on by New Mobility West on ways to revitalize small towns through inexpensive, grassroots efforts and thoughtful planning.
